The Performance Path (Long Route)

The Performance Path (Long Route) starts and ends at Printers Playhouse. Passing by the Towner gallery, it follows the seafront promenade, reaches the Italian Gardens and pauses on Holywell Beach before looping back into town. Along the way, local dance artist Yanaëlle Thiran performs short pieces of choreography for you. Silent disco headsets will be provided, enabling you to hear the music chosen or composed for each one. Between the performance locations, you will have the opportunity to talk to other walkers, and perhaps share what these dances and pieces of music evoked for you. Yanaëlle will also tell you how local landmarks inspire her movements. When returning the headsets to Printers Playhouse, you will be invited to get creative in response to the dances. This will be your chance to pick your path (for examples: writing a poem, drawing, or creating a collage of photos of the walk). Local artist Loupe Cooper will gather some of your creations in a booklet, to document a range of experiences of The Performance Path.

This walk was first offered at Eastbourne Walking Festival 2022. The long and short versions presented this year are supported by Arts Council England and East Sussex Arts Partnership.
