The Performance Path (Short Route) starts in the Italian Gardens, follows the seafront promenade, and ends in town at Printers Playhouse. Along the way, local dance artist Yanaëlle Thiran performs short pieces of choreography for you. Silent disco headsets will be provided, enabling you to hear the music chosen or composed for each dance. Between the performance locations, you will have the opportunity to talk to other walkers, and perhaps share what these dances and pieces of music evoked for you. Yanaëlle will also tell you how local landmarks like the Towner gallery inspire her movements. When returning your headsets to Printers Playhouse, you will be invited to respond to the dances creatively, for examples by writing, drawing, or creating a collage of photos taken on the walk. Local artist Loupe Cooper will gather some of your creations in a booklet, to document a range of experiences of The Performance Path.
This walk was first offered at Eastbourne Walking Festival 2022. The long and short versions presented this year are supported by Arts Council England and East Sussex Arts Partnership. For more information and a video trailer, please browse the web page below: https://yanaellethiran.wordpress.com/portfolio/the-performance-path-2022/
